Where to Eat in Miami—According to Its Most Exciting New Chef
A Really Good Miami Edition
Welcome to the Relisher’s second Miami edition! This week, I met with Nando Chang—the chef and restaurateur behind Michelin-starred Itamae AO in Miami.
Chef Nando Chang is widely considered one of Miami’s most exciting up-and-coming chefs—and for good reason. A 2025 James Beard Award nominee, he’s nationally recognized for redefining Nikkei cuisine (Peruvian and Japanese fusion).
He co-founded B-Side and Itamae, which earned a spot on The New York Times’ prestigious Restaurant List and received a Michelin Bib Gourmand—an award for restaurants offering exceptional food at a great value.
In 2024, he co-founded Itamae AO and earned a Michelin star within the year. Below, the local chef shares his favorite Miami restaurants and more. Note a Google Map with all of the mentioned locations is provided at the end of the interview.
