This week, we’re in Piedmont with Michelangelo Mammoliti, chef of three-Michelin-starred La Rei Natura, which earned its third star just three years after opening.
Considered one of Italy’s leading chefs, Michelangelo spent a decade in France working under legendary chefs Alain Ducasse, Pierre Gagnaire and Yannick Alléno. Most recently, he was appointed an Ambassador of Italian Cuisine Heritage by Italy’s Ministry of Agriculture, recognizing his work to promote and preserve the country’s gastronomic culture.
Piedmont, in northwestern Italy, is famous for Barolo wine, white truffles and some of the best food in the country, yet it remains far less visited than many of Italy’s better-known regions.
Below, Michelangelo shares:
Piedmont’s must-visit restaurants: from an old-school osteria to a terrace restaurant with one of the most beautiful views in Piedmont and a world-class wine list.
His favorite wineries to visit in Piedmont, and the wines he recommends trying at each
Where to go truffle hunting with a local hunter — at the truffle house he trusts for his restaurant
A Google Map with all of the locations mentioned is provided at the end of the interview.
